Mrs. Phyllis has a passion of sharing her enjoyment of music with others through teaching piano lessons. She believes that no one is too young or too old to learn to play the piano. In over 20 years of teaching, she has had students of all ages and levels. Her goal is to have each student enjoy taking lessons.
Mrs. Phyllis started piano lessons at age 7. Majoring in Music Education at Iowa Wesleyan College with a piano emphasis, she was under the tutelage of Dr. Joel Brown. At Southeastern Community College, Mrs. Phyllis was employed as choir accompanist and piano instructor. She has accompanied vocal and instrumental soloists at local, state and national competitions. Before her relocation from Mobile, AL to Oklahoma City, OK, she taught lessons at private academies in Lucedale, MS, Hurley, MS and Mobile, AL. and she played at her church and accompanied vocal and instrumental specials and the church choir. Continued industry education is important and through the years she has attended many workshops to keep informed of new music resources that are available. In February 2015, she completed the Piano Teacher Institute with Joy Morin. In the fall of 2017, Phyllis became a licensed KiddyKeys instructor and is excited to add this preschool piano based program in her studio.
Her home studio is located in the Arlington/Bartlett/Lakeland, TN area where she teaches private lessons, including Skype lessons.
