On Saturday August 22, Doug and I enjoyed a visit to Alligator Alley in Summerdale, Alabama, a sanctuary for alligators. I had never thought much about alligators in the past so it was very interesting to learn about them. It was a neat experience to see the alligators in their natural habitat. They have almost 500 alligators in the area. We watched the 11am and 1pm show feedings where they "recycled pork" (they use wild hogs for the feeding food). And of course, we heard the crunch of the bones and the "pop" when they ate. There was a beautiful field of sunflowers at the farm, too. Highlight of course was being able to hold a one year old alligator named Gatorade. I was very surprised to feel how soft he was, especially on the underneath side. They are certainly one of God's unique creations. I highly recommend if you are in the area to make plans to visit Alligator Alley.
