September 19 is International Talk Like a PIRATE day!!
This week students will be getting ready with some fun activities (Treasure Hunt of music terms, Pirate Fortune Teller for reviewing sharps and flats, Bass clef sight reading Treasure Hunt) and some pirate music (Pieces of 88 by Andrea Dow, Pieces of Eight book by Daniel McFarlane, He's a Pirate arranged by Jennifer Eklund).
Also student will be introduced to the famous pirate I know - Patch the Pirate (Ron Hamilton). He took a tragedy (loosing his left eye to cancer and having to wear a patch) and turned it into a wonderful music ministry for children. You can read about his story here:
